It's fine I think.

Those words have extremely old words as their origins. That would be a more literal translation.

But it could also mean language. (I also noticed that the Japanese is in the past tense).

It's my impression that 言葉の起源 refers primarily to the origin of words and not languages. But then gg5 has a sentence where it's translated has "the origin of speech." I don't know if there's a definite answer here without more context.

I think what I'll do is put the original version back as an alternative translation of the Japanese.
