In fact, almost everyone speaks a dialect. Only few people who was specially trained speak a "standard language". Regional languages are usually spoken by native ethnic groups. At least, that's what I know from my experience.

Thanks!
My comp seems to be to weak (2 GB RAM only, if the server takes 512 MB, it probably will be frozen). But the idea is interesting, cause it let adding sentences under CC-BY-SA which you can't add here.

That's cool :) Can anyone do it? What are the system properties which are required?

What are you all doing on the video?

I see. Then, the code should be changed to "rus".

Selena777 Selena777 2021年9月14日 2021年9月14日 UTC 下午6:38:40 link 永久链接

Which language is "und"? Actually, the line is in Russian. It's a whole sentence, but it lacks capitalization and has wrong punctuation.

Thanks for the answer, do you mean "the back row of seats in the cinema"? Unfortunately, I can't give an advice about proper level of the dialog, cause I'm not a language teacher nor an expert in this field.

I would like to participate in this project. I suppose your English sentences use simple A-level words and grammar, so there is a question: if you would like their translations be also A-level without using colloquial words? In Russian the issue also touches the order of words, unlike English.

Hi, I can't translate "drink at the back". It's certanly not A1 level. Is it an idiom? Please tell me its meaning.

Selena777 Selena777 2021年8月21日 2021年8月21日 UTC 上午7:43:10 link 永久链接

It seems I misunderstood a comment to a Japanese sentence. In Japanese the issue is more complex.

If I translated your comment correctly: https://tatoeba.org/en/sentences/show/10252958 - female speaker
https://tatoeba.org/en/sentences/show/10252962 - male speaker
The verb has different grammar forms for masclune, feminine and neutral gender objects.

I wish to know if it's a good practice to indicate the gender of a speaker or their interlocutor if a particular sentence could be said only by/to a male/female person. I didn't do it before, so I wonder if I should start to do it.

>>Makes me wonder if we should set "Random" as the default sort instead of "Relevance".

I think, that's a good idea.

Nice to know about this interesting feature. As I could understand from the description, hyperbaton needs for emphasing some words. So, if you're planning to translate from English into Latin, I guess it's not easy to find sentences in English, which meaning let to use it. If you find them, it will be cool.

Selena777 Selena777 2021年8月2日 2021年8月2日 UTC 下午6:26:50 link 永久链接

Indeed. Seems like a bug.

It's only blay_paul who is able to delete anything from his own favourites, not anyone else.

Selena777 Selena777 2021年7月15日 2021年7月15日 UTC 下午6:45:48 link 永久链接

I found near-duplicate sentences rather useful for beginners, and would like to see more of them, especially with different country/city names.

Now I'm making audiofiles based on Tatoeba's sentences, and hearing "Tom" and "Mary" here and there is quite annoying, so I need a program solution to replace them with random names. Fortunately, in German it's trivial (from grammar point of view), but if names have inclination in a particular language it's more tricky to do.

In the other hand I understand that near duplicates could be annoying for advanced learners, so they must have a possibility to skip those sentences while searching.

Selena777 Selena777 2021年7月8日 2021年7月8日 UTC 下午5:24:26 link 永久链接

To get the link I need to open the page of that sentence, right? Below, Alan suggested a good solution without opening it.

It's not for comments, it's for downloading audiofiles. I have a script which can do it. All I need to type the number of every particular sentence to download it. If I wish to make a set of audiofiles with some criteria, i.e. "someone have something" I need to go throught a search using some words i.e. "haben ein". I need to type the numbers of sentences that suit and skip sentences that don't suit. Clicking on every suitable sentences to get its number is annoying and time consuming, that's why I asked.

Selena777 Selena777 2021年7月8日 2021年7月8日 UTC 下午5:06:51 link 永久链接

Thanks, Alan.
The new design works and displays the numbers without any clicks.

Hi, how can I know the number of a particular sentence in a search or a list without opening the sentence? Thanks in advance.

Yes, "1 минуту назад" is completely ok. Please keep in mind we should keep an exeption for "11 минут назад".
