The languages adding process is now finished (for this time, of course now that I've documented for myself the process of adding languages, it would be not that long anymore to add new ones)
I will try ASAP to reupdate the interface files to be able to translate them on Launchpad (as they were spoiled by Bora if you remember),
On the same time I will start to take care of all the unanswered emails/private messages I have (about user promotion etc.)

.-.-.

"Novian", ça avait l'air d'être un bon nom pour un énième ersatz d'espéranto à 2000 phrases max...

It means that now you can look at random sentences in these new languages and search for them in the search engine (I've solved the problem also for the Novian language)

It might just be me, but the flags for Upper and Lower Sorbian don't seem to show up.

svp add language tamazight sur TATOEBA

I think a basic a priori requirement to add a language is having an active native (or proficient) speaker.
Is there any in Tatoeba?

I think what Marcelostockle means to say is that it would be helpful to update your profile to say which languages you speak, both as a learner and natively.
Welcome to Tatoeba, anyway, and I hope you find it useful.

Just a little poll out of curiosity:
Where do you take the sentences you add, besides those you translate from others?
Do you invent them all on the spot or do you prefer taking them from literacy, websites or whatnot, and if so, what makes you choose of a sentence over another one?

I think the best is making them in the spur of the moment, out of daily situations, rather than from literary scenarios.

Great project!. Enhorabuena!! y animo.

¡Bienvenido(a), ali11!

I'd like to thank Sysko and all others who work on this great website for adding new languages, i think now it is time to be more active.

I'm on the way to add the new languages (3AM here so I'll first go to bed), they should be soon here (I've been busy this weekend upgrading the server, and my personnal server on which I have the test version of the new version of tateba)

5AM here, the languages have been added, only one step missing, to update the search engine in order to be able to search form them (and also to use the "show random in", that is actually based on the search engine)
tomorrow that should be finished

Novian language appears as "unknown" and I can't find it in the language selection lists.
However, great work, sysko!
congratulations, and thanks a lot!

I will take a look at it after dinner, thanks to have reported the issue.

so it's already possible to start contributing directly in these languages now.

Thank you very much sysko. Great job!

Thanks for all of your hard work. :)

Great job, sysko! Thank you!

Awesome. Keep up the great work!

Champagne !
Merci de penser à publier les nouveaux noms de langues pour la traduction dans Launchpad...

Bonne nuit sysko et merci !

Hello. I want to become a moderator.

Why, not, we'll first ask what the other think about you as a moderator, as last time I said that I will involve more the commmunity in the process of chosing who becomes moderator.

actually I've just seen that you're only normal user for the moment, so I think a first step would be to promote it to "advance user" before thinking about becoming corpus maintener.

I agree with this.

+1

Speaking of which, I sent a request to team@tatoeba.fr requesting advance user status almost a week ago, but I haven't had any confirmation of receipt. I was hoping to start tying my sentences to multiple languages soon.

Yes sorry for this, these days I'm managing Tatoeba all alone, and my professional life is eating all my time leaving few times for my hobbies (included Tatoeba)
Last week I've made some upgrade on the servers etc. and added languages and for this week I will try to unpack the long list of emails (included yours), sorry for the times it takes

Thanks. It might be worth setting up an auto-response, just so we know you've recieved it. I was starting to get a bit paranoid about mistyping, spam filters etc...

I've updated to advanced contributor both of your status, you may need to relog.

I'm just having an argument with corvard about Russian punctuation here:
http://tatoeba.org/sentences/show/446725
I AM therefore biased, but I have my reservations.

Ok, i see, there's a problem with a sentence.
But it's not problem.

Well, it would be nice to have a Russian-speaking moderator, I guess.
I'm just afraid you might be overdoing it and correcting sentences that are correct. :3

it's okay to be concerned.

Let him try.

Hi all,
I'd like to know if there's a "list" or "tag", which has already been set up/compiled with short sentences that one can use in virtually any situation.
I once met a Chinese guy that kept saying "It's a piece of cake!" to just about everything I said. Weird example, I know. At the moment my target language is Japanese, but lists/tags aren't necessarily directed to only one language.
Examples of possible sentences in English would be:
You're right about that one.
Not being an expert myself....
We'll have to look into that sometime...
That's cool.
What a laugh!
See what I'm getting at? Having a list of about ten of these at one's disposal to regurgitate periodically would be very handy.
Thanks in advance,
jamesforsyth :)

I don't know of such a list. You can obviously compile a list of stock phrases by yourself using the list tool here.
