1- The translation of sentences with similar grammatical patterns isn't a waste of time. Even if English sentences with a similar pattern might look 'boring' to translate, many languages other than English have their own syntactic rules that might reveal some particular grammatical features even when they're translations of English sentences with similar grammatical patterns. A language like Arabic has a grammar that's quite different from that of English, therefore, it's always worth to translate English sentences with similar patterns into a language like Arabic.

2- If those sentences whose links are posted as comments on my sentences are "better" because they are available in audio, I would like to inform the public that even sentences using names other than 'Tom, Mary, and Boston' will soon be available in audio. I will have co-workers whose English is the first language record my English sentences and I'll submit them to Tatoeba. Therefore, and soon, even my sentences will be available in audio. I consider this as an important step for two main reasons:

a- To assert the equality of all members and their right to use names of their choice including in audio sentences.

b- Audio sentences will have to be proofread and corrected once and for all (both English and Arabic ones).

Do not ‘harvest’(or copy) my sentences solely for the purpose of to re-writing them using proper nouns different from those I’ve already used then publishing them again on Tatoeba. I think that the website doesn’t need near-identical sentences thar are intentionally submitted just to apply a recommendation suitable for a personal project. We are all free to create here, so I kindly invite you to create your own sentences instead.

Here is what Trang (the owner of Tatoeba) said about this issue:

"It is okay to create near duplicates to illustrate the linguistic properties of a language. It is *not* okay to create near duplicates just for the sake of enforcing a certain set of names. Although I understand it is not meant with bad intentions, it is still borderline spam.

If you really have a good reason for it (you or anyone), then please, before you proceed to create tens of thousands of near duplicates by merely changing the names, explain what is the problem you are facing that forces you to create these near duplicates. I'm pretty sure we can come up with a solution that doesn't result in so much intentional noise pollution in the corpus." (Trang)
