Fragen eines lesenden Übersetzers.

Ich frage mich, wer das ist "Die Forscher"?
Bedeutet das nicht faktisch "Alle Forscher". Aber das trifft ja sicher nicht zu. Kannst du mir mit einer Erklärung weiter helfen?

Wenn ich mich hier einmischen darf:
Das Naheliegende wäre für mich, dass der Satz aus einem Bericht über neue Forschungsergebnisse ist und es sich um bestimmte Krebsforscher handelt, die zuvor schon erwähnt worden sind.
