Where I live (Castille, Spain) "esconderite" is more often used by children than "escondite".

Not really sure but the word might come from a fusion of Latin "abscondere ite!" (go [you, more than one] hide!). I knew two men (dead now) who studied long ago in schools where they spoke mostly in Latin. I find this origin quite possible but, as I say, it's just a thought of mine.

interesante, yo crecí en Castilla-La Mancha y allí (o por lo menos en la provincia de Guadalajara) se usa "escondite", pero me suena haber oído a mi padre (que es de Castilla León) decir "esconderite", aunque hasta ahora pensaba que había oído mal ^^'

No había pensado en ello hasta ahora pero no me extrañaría que "escondite" fuera una simplificación de "esconderite". Aunque que quede claro que no son más que elucubraciones mías. :)
