@RobinS
Is this sentence natural enough to think you would like to adopt it?
If so, I'd try to add another translation.

I left it unadpted in 2012 when I read the Tanaka Corpus since it seemed a little off to me.

Thanks for your comment, CK.
How would you describe it?

How about this one?
Young people naturally react against their parents' attitudes.

My guess is that perhaps the writer was trying to say something like the following.

Young people often rebel against their parents.

Note that this has another translation, so if any change is made the owner of that sentence needs to be contacted.

OK. I'll ask @AlanF_US since the link is in Hebrew.
Alan, could you correct this sentence?

CK CK 17 days ago May 18, 2024 at 3:25:44 AM UTC link Permalink

NOTE:

Even though this sentence seems off to me, perhaps AlanF_US might feel it sounds like something he would say and be willing to adopt it the way it is.

Then let's wait for Alan's reply.
Please don't delete your comments. I tried my best to write my comments in English, which I am not good at.

I'll wait until this is resolved before deleting my comments.

I never understood why someone would want to delete comments as a general policy. It just makes the history of the associated sentences harder to understand.

In any case, @small_snow, it looks like you are planning to update the Japanese. Please go ahead. Would the new version match "Young people often rebel against their parents"? Then I'll change this one and adopt it, and I'll leave a note on the Hebrew indicating that the English has been changed, leaving it up to @fekundulo as to how to proceed. Thanks!

Thanks, Alan.
To my mind, I think the meaning would be different if 'naturally' were changed to ’often".

I wish it could mean the following and be natural English.
- It is (quite) natural for young people to rebel against their parents.
- It is (quite) natural for young people that they should rebel against their parents.

The Japanese [#148810] meaning is close to those meanings.
Do you have any good expressions?

P.S. I wanted to add another Japanese expression to this English sentence, but no one had adopted it. I hesitated to translate a sentence that no one had adopted. So, I left a first comment.

This is the one I like better.

I agree.
