
I notice that most translations use present tense, while the recording by @CK uses past tense.

That's because it's the most likely meaning, I think.
If I meant that someone was currently reading my mind, I'd say "You're reading my mind."
It would be possible to create a longer sentence including this sequence of words that would use the present tense pronunciation of "read."
