"Really" and "a lot" are fairly genetic intensifiers in English, as I'm sure you know. I'd say they're fairly interchangeable. I know that « vraiment » and « beaucoup » are different words with different meanings. "I appreciate your company a lot" isn't something I'd say, personally. The translation I supplied sounds the most natural to me. I'm open to feedback, if anyone wants to chime in.
I agree: "I really appreciate your company." sounds natural.
The word "really" would mean "very much" or "greatly" in this example.
In a different situation it could mean: actually, truly, or genuinely.
It seems like a word that has become overly used because of the way it sounds,
rather than for a logical reason.
