I think you misunderstand exactly why "god" is capitalized. It is done out of respect, not because of any grammatical feature of the word. It is for this same reason that when a personal pronoun, such as "he" or "him" refers to god, it is also capitalized.

However, I can see that what you might be trying to say is that god with a capital 'g' denotes a specific entity, i.e., "the one god" and that "god" without the capitalization does not refer to this entity. This, I feel, is debatable.

You know what, I'm just going to let go of this sentence. I feel like there are reasons to be sought for either capitalization or lack there of, but I guess I'm just not that interested in the debate. =P

From the second link it would appear that
"I don't believe in a god."
or
"I don't believe in the Christian god."
would be OK with lower case, but
"I don't believe in God."
should have an upper case.
