Etwas Wasser oder ein Wasser?

Ich habe das Gefühl, dass man "etwas Wasser" gratis bekommt, und "ein Wasser" nur gegen Bezahlung.
Im angelsächsischen Sprachraum bedeutet "some water" ein Glas Wasser, welches man gratis bekommt, während "a water" eine Flasche Wasser ist, die man bezahlt.

Wie währe es mit "Bringen Sie mir bitte Wasser"?

Ich habe es noch nie erlebt, daß gratis ein Glas Wasser serviert worden wäre. In Deutschland muß man, scheint es oft, für alles bezahlen. „Bringen Sie mir bitte Wasser“ fände ich auch in Ordnung. ☺
