
I think "I have neither money nor friends." would be a more natural translation to this sentence, as I read it from German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. The present sentence conveys the same meaning but is less concise, less direct a translation, and has more of a rambly tone.
I'm not always a fan of the most literal word-for-word translations, but this seems to be one case where a closer word-for-word translation may be more natural as well.
