My father is rich.
看到这样的句子，我一般是这样翻译的。
-> 我的父亲很富有。 或者 -> 我的父亲很有钱。
一般不会这样翻译：
我父亲是富有的。

但是英文原句中并没有very，原因如下：
“富有”其实是一个形容词，所以直接把名词“我父亲”和“富有”放一起就会缺少谓语。
“很”这个字有充当谓语的“意思”在里面。

“我父亲很富有。” 和
”我父亲富有。“
就可以看出来。
