I'd suggest "the devil" instead of "the Devil."

I haven't found any evidence that the word can't be capitalised when referring to the specific being also known as Satan etc. It's probably unusual in ordinary writing, I understand, but this proverb appears to be rather old-fashioned, seeing as it does not generate too many hits on Google. And as the results show, "the Devil" here is capitalised quite often.

This proverb apparently warns you to be on your guard and keep distance when interacting with those who mean ill; avoid getting too close to them.
