Semmi gond nincs abból, sőt, ajánlott, hogy ilyenkor a tagadást áthelyezzük az első tagmondatról a másodikra. Tehát nem úgy fordítjuk, hogy "nem hiszi, hogy ...", hanem úgy, hogy "azt hiszi, hogy ... nem". Bevett gyakorlat, így magyarosabb és a mondat jelentésén sem változtat, csak tükrözi a két nyelv gondolkodásmódja közötti különbséget.

Az angolra ugyanis jellemző, hogy ha a bevezető ige állítás, akkor utána nem szívesen használ tagadást, míg a magyarban nincs ilyen megkötés.
