This reminds me of something I heard about coger and South America. I wonder if it would have a different meaning.

hahaha in Spain "coger" is a more naïve verb, it just means "to take, to catch" :P

Segun he oido el significado de coger viene de las conquistas cuando los españoles asaltaban un asentamiento decian:

"Matad a los hombres y coged a las mujeres y los niños"

Pero no le doy demasiada credibilidad.
