Pourquoi "en dépit de"? Moi je comprends plutôt "pour", "à cause" ?

eh bien vous avez tort. C'est contre-intuitif (et donc très mal traduit dans plein d'autres langues), mais "for all" signifie aussi « malgré » = en dépit de = in spite of

voyez ici http://www.thefreedictionary.com/For+all
sens 21 et 22

for all my pushing, I still couldn't move it => malgré tous mes efforts à pousser, je ne parvins pas à le bouger.

he was a nice man for all that.
