I think your English translation has nothing to do with the German phrase..

yeah, I'm unimpressed. Dictionary translations of proverb are sometimes debatable. Are you the author of that match? Otherwise, I don't think that copy-paste of this pair is of any interest. They don't match in my view.
The English phrase can relate to individuals (artists, politicians, etc.), not to the "world".

Ob die Übersetzung richtig ist, hängtganz davon ab, ob der englische Satz von dessen Sprecher ironisch gemeint ist. Wenn ja, gibt die deutsche Redensart das Gemeinte wieder; wenn der Sprecher "There's nothing like going out in style" z.B. stolz oder selbstzufrieden sagt, während er die Bewunderung der Eingeladenen genießt, passt die Redewendung nicht.
Dass von "Welt" die Rede ist, gehört als Verallgemeinerung
zum ironischen Ton der Redensart dazu; der individuelle Fall wird dann als Beleg für die allgemeine Dekandenz gesehen.
