Comme le point final ne fait pas partie de la citation, il faut l’exclure des guillemets.

Si tu as une source de plus haute autorité (l’Académie française), je peux bien changer la phrase.

Par contre, je réalise que je devrais quand même mettre un deux-points et commencer la phrase citée par une majuscule. Je change ça.

L’Académie n’a que faire de la typographie. C’est bon comme ça aussi. :-)
