Maybe it's better to write it as 仲 then? 仲 is transcribed zung6...

What is more common?

仲 is more common (at least in casual contexts), but 重 is more etymologically correct. In fact, 重 with the current Cantonese meaning existed in literary Chinese hundreds of years ago.

Thanks. I guess I'll use 仲: IMHO widespread spellings are preferable to etymologically correct ones (but I won't change this sentence, since then the tag would make no sense).

The problem is, now we don't have the indication 重 can be transcribed incorrectly; if someone decides to fix Cantonese transliteration, he would have no indication that 重 needs fixing.

Yeah, that's precisely where the problem is. I guess we'll have to stick with 仲 until romanisations are made editable...
