В СРЛЯ было бы «учителя». Я добавлю тег non-standard grammar.

Гм… Посмотрел в словаре, оказывается, «учители» — устаревшее. Убрал тег.

Нескладность в английском:

both, кмк, избыточно - ведь родителей, как правило, не бывает больше двух. Но если такое подчёркивание необходимо, то естественней было бы Both of Tom's parents were teachers. Опять же, на мой вкус))

"Учители" - наверно, дело стиля, а не правильности. Можно даже

Родители Томовы учители оба.
