no, está seguro está bien. No es lo mismo "It is sure that Tom is going to be fired" = certainly he is going to be fired, que "Tom is sure to be fired" = Tom is convinced he is going to be fired.
Mira en el link que me has mandado el 3b de la primera definición y el 9 de la segunda.

soy española de zona leísta, así que verás bastantes de mis frases donde use "le" en lugar de "lo", pero los dos están considerados correctos por la RAE :)
