Mit diesem Satz konnte ich nichts anfangen, bevor ich die engl. Version gelesen habe. "Hammer" kann ja im Deutschen auch eine sehr positive Bedeutung haben. Deshalb fragte ich mich zuerst ob es nicht besser heißen sollte "Er schwimmt wie ein Hai". In zwischen, etwa klüger geworden, kann ich mir vorstellen, dass "wie ein Stein" eine brauchbare Übersetzung ist.

Mein Vater pflegte zu sagen: "wie eine bleierne Ente". -
Ich habe auch überlegt, ob ich mich aenger an die Vorlage halten soll oder nicht...
Dein Vorschlag gefällt mir gut.
