Mi dirus, "Mi surprizis ilin kisantaj", sen la fina "n". Mi konfesas ke mi neniam sentas min tute sekuraj en tiaj frazoj, sed la nuna frazo ŝajnas esti de la tipo, kiun PMEG priskribas ĉi tie:

Laŭ mi, la nuna frazo estus en la tria grupo de tiu paĝo, kie oni povas uzi aŭ ne uzi la n-finaĵon, por esprimi nuancon.

En la Tekstaro, mi trovis tre similan ekzemplon pri malkovrado kaj kiso. El "Kruko kaj Baniko el Bervalo":

Jes, Koninda, mi samopinias kun vi. Ankaŭ mi uzus "kisantaj". Kun "n" vi surprizas kisantajn homoj; sen "n", vi surprizas homojn, dum ili estas kisantaj.
