es-tu sûr de la concordance des temps ici ?
En français, ça me fait bizarre, car un conditionnel est un futur hypothétique et ne s'accorde pas avec un imparfait.
Ne faudrait-il pas mieux un conditionnel passé ?

Bon, en fait les deux sont possibles, cette version-ci sonne plus littéraire, et nous indique que il le ferait même maintenant, mais jusqu'au moment où l'on narre, ça n'avait pas été suffisant. Mais j'admets que, dehors du langage littéraire, ta version serait plus appropriée.

c'est intéressant, parce qu'en français, les mêmes temps ne donnent pas l'effet littéraire visé...

Moi, je l'aurais traduit pour quelque chose comme "Il était prêt à tout faire pour celle qu'il aimait, mais rien n'était suffisant/rien ne semblait suffire". Est-ce que ça serait plus correcte /naturel en français ?
