エスペラントで特に性を指定するときは virkoko と書きます。

Kiam oni volus difini la sekson de koko, oni skribas kiel "virkoko".

In esperanto, "koko" is neutral, "male cock" is "virkoko", "hen" is "kokino" (--- my esperanto-textbook).

From my village experience, only roosters can crow. Hens usually cackle. :-)

日本語話者の方へ。
本当にオンドリだけが早朝に鳴くのかどうか、僕は知りません。
日本語では、「鶏鳴(ケイメイ)」「鶏舎」とか「鶏が卵を産んだ」とか性が特定されている場合でもわざわざ「メンドリ」などとは表現しません。したがって、原文が性を特定していない単語であれば、そのとおり日本語も性を特定しない例文を対応させるのが適当だと、少なくともこの例文については、考えました。
もちろん、この訳文において「オンドリ」という単語が不適当だと批判したりはしませんが。
