Мужского. Но оно собирательное. Как у нас "собака" или "кошка".
То есть, это вообще собака. Можно перевести и так, и так.

Вполне же можно сказать: "Это моя собака Тузик. Я её люблю."

Ну, незнай, я ж не собачник. :-) Но, вроде, пёс для собаки мужского пола много лучше звучит. :-)
