
Doesn't the original English translation convey a negative meaning? I read the Japanese sentence like above, in a positive sense. Not really fluent, but maybe the meaning is closer.

I agree that the first sentence conveys the idea of finding out a phony teacher. One WWWJDIC definition of 当てる is "expose", but checking with Kenkyusha's dictionary (4th edition), that's "expose to air", heh. But one definition of やま is "speculated area covered by an exam", so the sentence might even be rendered "You sure guessed the critical points of that teacher['s exam]".

That sounds about right. Making the modification.
