Ich hatte 目から鱗が落ちる für eine eigentümliche japanische Wendung gehalten. Die stammt doch aus Neuen Testament! Sie wurde erst in 1880 in der Übersetaung der Bibel gebraucht.

「忽〔たちま〕ち彼の眼より鱗の如〔ごとき〕もの脱〔おち〕て再び見〔みる〕ことを得〔え〕すなはち起〔たち〕てバプテスマを受〔うく〕」(『使徒公伝』9章18節)

Ja, das stimmt: von da ist die Redensart auch ins Deutsche gelangt, und ich habe mich ähnlich verwundert wie Du, als ich sie zum erstenmal in der japanischen Fassung gesehen habe. Hier die Passage in der Übersetzung nach Luther von 1912:

„Und alsobald fiel es von seinen Augen wie Schuppen, und er ward wieder sehend und stand auf, ließ sich taufen [und nahm Speise zu sich und stärkte sich].“
