It just required three minor alterations (punctuation and capitalization), so that's what I did. I think the sentence has value.
My annotation on the actual meaning would be that "I'm fine" is generally a better (not just more common) response to "How are you?" than "I am good". It avoids ambiguity, and will universally be considered correct, whereas "I am good" (or more likely "I'm good") is more likely to be perceived as slangy at best (or, coming from a non-native speaker, as indicative of a lack of mastery of English).
