"I immediately travelled to Tokyo; it was past noon when I saw my uncle." or something. The Japanese is a bit nasty to translate.
I adapted it. Any native English speaker can adopt it and make more changes if needed.
It was by no means a great translation. I didn't expect it to get used verbatim.
Someone needs to check the links if we keep this wording.
@Pfirsichbaeumchen, what does the Japanese say?
I would expect "but", rather than a semicolon:
I travelled to Tokyo right away, but it was past noon when I saw my uncle.
