It should be French instead of English.

@alexander
If you change it, let me know.

PaulP had already linked anticipating the change, or ignoring the obvious difference (only in the language name). I think this is good approach, since that does not prevent language learners to learn the sentence - since the difference is also obvious for them.

There is one more question: is it about an afternoon meal or an evening meal? Or it's ambiguous like in English?

neron neron August 17, 2014 August 17, 2014 at 7:37:12 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

Main meal of the day, "at the middle of the day" (mid - dag), - so it would be "afternoon meal", without any ambiguity, i think.

But there is an evening meal in Esperanto and peharps in German. We should tell Alexander, if it's exactly what he meant, I think.

Perhaps Alexander has corrected the sentence meanwhile. Thank you for your care. ☺

Ok, thanks Aleksander, I am chaning mine, than.

Thanks your both.

I've just discovered that "middag" could also mean aftens,"late night meal", supper, večera... From [#1974119] But I must still keep my reserve about this.

In Norway, we have four main meals. Kveldsmat is the last meal of the day we eat before bed.

The English translation needs to either reflect this, or the Norwegian word needs to be changed to middag

Jeg tror at „middag“ passer bedre til alle oversettelser enn „kveldsmat“. Jeg endrer setningen tilbake.
