I'm not sure, yet I'm asking myself:
"unveiling their deceptive appearance" - doesn't that mean that there appearance is unveiled, but remains deceptive?
Wouldn't it be better to "lift their veil of deception", thus making visible their true appearance / their true nature?

Alexander, I must thank you for you have made me thinking again about this :) I was trying to explain it without giving a long and boring example when I just find it better to use the word "reveal" instead of "unveil" which I understand how it may be confusing.

>> thus making visible their true appearance / their true nature?<<
Das stimmt!

>> I just find it better to use the word "reveal" instead of "unveil"
This may be a very good idea indeed. Gute Nacht, Geist der Wunder. ☺
