
As "looked" is in the past tense we would normally say "to see if it *was* still snowing."

Can "was" not form a contraction with "it"?

It appears that sentence (even though it says "was" in the latest contributions list) remains un-amended.
Just to confirm that it cannot be "it's" for "it was". It has to be "it was"
