I assume this is likely an attempt by a non-native speaker to use the phrase "go off to sleep."
Mary waited until her child went off to sleep.
Personally, I'd convey this idea as follows.
Mary waited until her child fell asleep.
Or, even more likely, I'd say "her son" or "her duaghter," since if I knew Mary well enough to know her name, I'd also likely know the gender of her child.

The Russian sentence doesn't say if it's her own child or not.
Mary waited until the (not her) child fell asleep.
Feel free to add it, it completely matches with the Russian.
