Je me demande si c'est vraiment la bonne traduction. « Faire chou blanc », c'est se rendre quelque part en espérant rencontrer ou mettre la main sur quelqu'un et échouer à le faire, non ?

Vous donnez déjà une définition bien circonstanciée de cette expression. N'ayant pas le contexte pour traduire la phrase de façon plus fine, j'avais vérifié au préalable les sources suivantes (Celle du Larousse n'a pas de lien, car il s'agit de mon Larousse de chevet :)
