Is there an extra "is" or can you really say like this?

If the "is" is not necessary, this is a double to [#2007154] and should be removed.

Maybe "is" could be replaced with "has" so that would not be a perfect double.

Thanx

You should only adopt sentences in your own native language. I'd suggest that you release this one and let CK or some other native adopt it if they feel it sounds natural.

The sentence would be changed:
She is --> She has

Pf.b., I also had that idea.
Ich sehe es auch ein.
(The problem, as I saw, there is a few intention
to translate our original sentences, even less ability.)

@maaster: please unadopt this sentence, since English is not your native language. It's stated clearly in the guidelines that you should adopt sentences only in your native language: http://en.wiki.tatoeba.org/arti...r-own-native-l

Only adopt "orphan" sentences in your own native language.

Adopting is a way to give your "stamp of approval."
A "stamp of approval" by a native speaker means more, so that's why we have this guideline.

Only native speakers are for some reason extremely reluctant to adopt any sentence even if it has no mistakes.

Silja Silja March 10, 2015 March 10, 2015 at 8:57:41 PM UTC flag Report link Permalink

@Ooneykcall: Are they? And if they really are reluctant, it doesn't give any more right non-natives to adopt them.

Personally, I've always adopted all the (scarce) unadopted Finnish sentences I've seen and to the one's that I don't, I post a comment why (I usually find them unnatural, but can't suggest anything to fix them).

I find 'adoption by natives only' to be a somewhat biased practice, since still not all sentences by native speakers are correct and not all sentences by non-native speakers are incorrect. Tatoeba being small enough, I look at the specific username to see if I should be more inclined to trust their sentences. If they have a history of adding sentences that contain apparent mistakes, I'll be less inclined to do so, and so should everyone. I've enough English reading experience to spot mistakes that are not very complex. Those who are in the earlier stages of learning can simply stick to browsing native speaker sentences only (this should be an option in the search!).
Speaking of this particular sentence, its correctness can very easily be verified by some Google (re)searching.
