The Esperanto-word means "a person who tells tales". :-)

This English is as clean as I can make it without rewriting the Esperanto.

The whole example could use re-writing, although you might encounter something like this in extemporaneous speech.

I'm against defective uses of language, but still feel that sometimes a translator is obligated to preserve the defects of the original.

The whole family of my uncle came to hear the rakontiston, and even some relatives of my aunt from the neighboring housing on the other side of the hill.
