If you prefer one sentence in German and two sentences in English, you could simply do what you feel is better, couldn't you?

@tommy_san I try to preserve the style of the original, as I do when I translate books.

I personally don't think that's a very good principle here, since the users wouldn't see your sentence as a translation from German. All sentences in Tatoeba are, so to speak, originals. All sentences are equal.
Do you think it's good for learners to read a translated work that is faithful to the original without knowing that that's a translation, without knowing that native speakers would say or write differently if it were not a translation?
It might not be a serious problem concerning this particular sentence, but I believe it's an important point to discuss.
