Seems same thing in the context, since the owner of the object is in this case also its user; so it is no wonder that "owner's manual" would be called "user's manual" in another language. Russian also appears to favour "user's manual", I think... We aren't doing word-for-word, but sense-for-sense. ~

In which context ? There is not the faintest context here. How can you tell there are no user's manual as well ??

Indeed we can't, so for all I can guess either translation should be acceptable. Now I'm retreating back and giving place to Frau Pfirsich's future comments~

Well, my view is that, in the absence of any context, we should always seek the strongest accuracy...otherwise, we'll end up translating "food" with "banana"...
