
How about "I wish I had ..."?

Hmm, just to check on my interpretation, but the speaker doesn't want one anymore, right?
If 欲しかった means that the speaker wanted one in the past, but not anymore, it would be "I wished I had" instead.

My interpretation was that the speaker does wish now s/he had a brother, but s/he thinks it's not possible anymore.
