You're so very wrong, there...

a reason?

err...no ! That's why !

Life has no reason. It just springs from mechanical necessity...

"God" has the figurative sense of "primary motivation." "Reason" without an article means rationality.

Compare the figurative sense of "idol" as "hero."

what proves life has any rationality ?

What's the meaning of this discussion? It's simply a sentence. It doesn't mean it has to be true.

What's the meaning of commenting ? What's the meaning of life ? What's the meaning of asking about it ?

What is Tatoeba? What are words? And who is this person who is asking?

They used to say that God created Earth and life on it.
They used to say that the Sun revolved around the Earth (and it was the other way)
They used to say that other stars had no planets
They then used to say that the planets that were around other stars were rare and only massive.
Then they adjusted their instruments and they now use to say that Earth-size planets are galore around others stars.
So now they use to say that those planets are located in inhabitable zones...
And it was discovered that many of them are actually in habitable zones.
So they now use to say that these planets aren't rocky.
But then, many of them have been proven to be rocky.
So they now use to say that there can't be water on them.
But water has been detected on many of them.
So what will they say now ?

I don't think you understand the sentence.

Yes, I do very much ! And I'll tell you what again : Reason or rationality or whatever you want to call it, has no place in this universe. There's no reason for Reason. There's only necessity. Necessity is what the world and life is. And that is why it has no end.

In other words, your "god" is necessity. Reason is just an example.

"Reason" and "Necessity" are not even parents...

Never heard of a "Necessity" god. Is gravity a god ? Is the freezing temperature of water ? That's a bloody lot of gods, you've got !

If gravity is of supreme value to someone, then yes, gravity is a god to that person. It is a FIGURATIVE definition.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/god
See definition 3 under the full definition.

Note that in the sentence, "god" is even in quotes.

Gravity is exrtemally important for everyone. If there were no gravity, we all would fly away into the space and die there.

I'm not continuing this discussion any further.

>If there were no gravity, we all would fly away into the space and die there.
I wouldn't be able to play golf as my golf ball would never come back to earth (not a pleasant thought)!
