Anmerkung: Das ist die grammatisch korrekte Version.

Persönlich würde ich vorziehen: ... ist Ernst der jüngste.
"... das jüngste" würde ich vor allem dann wählen, wenn Ernst noch nicht durch die Pubertät ist, und ganz bestimmt bei ganz kleinen Kindern. Sicherlich würde man "der jüngste" vorziehen, wenn Ernst im vollen Leben steht und berufstätig ist.

So sehe ich es jedenfalls.
