
Wow! So you have a name for that period of the summer! In North African Berber (particularly in Kabylie, Algeria), we call them "ṣṣmayem".
We even have a proverb about that: "Ad d-iwet wedfel deg ṣṣmayem" (literally: It'd would snow in 'dog days'). It's said about something that would never happen.
