You should know we do not have a specific nice word for 'afternoon' and just say 'day' (implying 'the daylight part') instead. Of course it is possible to be specific but that's not the natural style for a casual conversation.
I agree this makes an ambiguous sentence here, but if the teatime is too late to be morning but too early to be evening, I can't think of anything else that would be as smooth and natural.

'day' и 'afternoon', 'Tag' и 'Nachmittag' оба могут передаваться как "день". "два часа дня", а не "два часа после полудня". Есть выражение "пополудни", но оно старомодное сильно.
А вообще, товарищ, если вы будете разговаривать знаками препинания, я тоже так начну делать.
