I'm not saying I necessarily know better, but the translation appears to read "one of the most marvellous discoveries", which seems a bit different, as the original "most" in question is elative, that is, an intensifier like "extremely", but used particularly in a literary style.
Maybe it still fits, I'm just dropping my two cents in case there was some oversight.

@nimfeo: le singulier s'impose car "j'ai fait une découverte".
@Ooneykcall: You're right that there's no totally matching translation; another maybe better option would be "J'ai fait une découverte tout à fait merveilleuse".
@marafon: "plus que merveilleuse" rendrait bien aussi le sens, comme "tout à fait merveilleuse";
"vraiment merveilleuse" correspondrait peut être plus à "quite marvellous".
