Should it not be 'scary' rather than dreadful? (I am learning Dutch, so I do not know, but it would seem to correspond better to the definitions I've seen.)

Indeed. English "dreadful" has been translated as Ukrainian "страшний", which can also mean "scary" (actually I think that is the original meaning).

The Ukrainian translation was originally done by me (in my previous incarnation ^^"). Doesn’t 'dreadful' mean 'scary' in the English sentence in the first place?
If no, please explain the meaning (and probably the Ukrainian will need to be unlinked from English).

'Dreadful' means roughly 'awful'; so the English sentence means that the movie is really bad (but nothing about the type of movie). 'Scary movie' would typically mean that the movie is a horror movie.

Hm, I don't think the Ukrainian «страшний» has this exact meaning, «жахливий» would be used for this. If the English sentence cannot indeed refer to a horror movie, I suggest unlinking it.
