"Do you like being Tom's assistant?"
"Do you want to be Tom's assistant?"

Do these sentences have the same meaning? The Turkish sentence matches the second one, but I'm not sure about the first one.

I think he/she is -already- Tom's assistant in the first sentence, but not in the second one.
