Sorry, I must have thought "conseguir" meant "to continue".
However, I'm not sure "conseguir" can be translated as "to be able to/can". I can't find anything on "conseguir+verb", so if anyone else can offer an alternate translation...

The Spanish sentence that you translated from was written by a non-native speaker, so perhaps it's not a good sentence, which is maybe why this English sentence also seems strange.
