punt (werk -> werk.)

Nee, ek is Meksikaanse :) always try to translate from OTHER languages into your own. "Mamma is besig om te werk." and "Mamma werk." are too different to be linked.
For sentences in the same language to be linked, they would have to be pretty much EXACTLY the same thing: "I am Tom." = "I'm Tom"; "I have to go now." = "I must go now." = "I gotta go now."
Even "I work." and "I am working." are logically too different to be linked.
Welcome to the Tatoeba Project; I look forward to learning more Afrikaans from your sentences :)

Now I see. I thought you could add alternate possible translations, and in this case I felt my translation sounded more natural in a daily setting.I'm still new and learning the ropes. I wasn't sure what you were going on about at first XD

We all make mistakes (I made several when I first joined as well).
So, first, you must find sentences to translate.
http://goo.gl/GldxqF
These here are our most 'translated' sentences. Not all of them are all that great as example sentences, but many crucial things, such as "Hello." "Help!" "Thank you." are here. Look through the list, click on a sentence, and if there is not yet an Afrikaans translation, feel free to add it :)
Another possibility is to use the search bar above: type in (an) English word(s), change the language in the 'From' box to English and click the magnifying glass. The English sentences with the word(s) will appear (by default: shortest to longest). So if you feel like translating sentences with concepts like "dog" or "bigger than" or "as XXX as possible", it is a great tool.
You could also use the Advanced Search (small; in white letters above the search bar)
In 'Sentences', change language to English; in 'Translations', change 'Limit to' to 'exclude', change language to 'Afrikaans'. In 'Sort', change Order to 'Random'...
...and you will be give a list of random sentences in English not yet translated into Afrikaans :D
Happy hunting, and welcome!
